At Helensburgh Public School, we offer a variety of programs in the classroom and across the school to help students build new skills, make friends and explore new interests.

Our extra-curricular highlights
School Band
Our school band gives students the chance to make music together, build teamwork, and share their talents with the school community. Playing in the band helps students grow their confidence, practise commitment, and experience the joy of performing.
SRC
The SRC empowers students to be leaders and make a difference in the school. Members work together to plan events, share student ideas, and help create a positive, inclusive school culture. Being part of the SRC helps students develop confidence, responsibility, and teamwork skills.
Choir
K-2 Choir and 3-6 Choir give students the opportunity to sing, perform, and share their love of music. Being part of the choir helps students build confidence, develop listening and teamwork skills, and experience the joy of performing together at school and community events.
Dance
Our K-2 Dance and 3-6 Dance groups let students express themselves through movement and music. They build coordination, rhythm, and teamwork while preparing for exciting performances that celebrate creativity and school spirit.
Drumming Group
The drumming group gives students the chance to explore rhythm, teamwork, and creativity. Through regular practice and performances, students build confidence, focus, and a strong sense of collaboration while making music together.
Debating
The debating team encourages students to think critically, speak confidently, and listen respectfully. Through friendly competitions, they learn to build strong arguments, work as a team, and express their ideas with clarity and respect.
Drama and Tech Club
Drama and Tech Club gives students the chance to explore both performance and behind-the-scenes skills. Students build confidence through acting, learn to work as a team, and develop creativity by helping design sets, lighting, and sound for performances.
Spelling Bee and Math Olympiad
Spelling Bee and Math Olympiad challenge students to stretch their thinking and show off their skills. These competitions build confidence, encourage perseverance, and celebrate a love of words and numbers in a fun, supportive environment.
AT culture
AT Culture celebrates and shares Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures, and perspectives with our school community. Students engage in meaningful learning experiences that build respect, understanding, and a sense of connection to Country.
Green Team
The Green Team supports our school’s sustainability by leading composting and gardening initiatives. Students take part in hands-on experiences that promote environmental care, responsibility, and respect for our natural world.
